The
Genealogy Area in the Greene County Library is approximately
2,530 sq. ft. and contains local collections
as well as surrounding state. There are 15 volunteers from
the Greene County Historical Society in the S.S. Lipscomb
genealogy
room every afternoon, Monday - Fridays to assist researchers.

The
present Greene County Historical & Genealogical
Society was reorganized in 1987. The address of the society is
120 North 12th Street, Paragould, Arkansas. The e-mail address

The purpose of this organization is to preserve
our past history and to encourage people to gather information
on their families. The Greene County Historical and Genealogical
Society of Greene County have been very active in restoring records
in our old 1888 Greene County Courthouse. We have many publications
available for sale and have recently published a Greene County
Family History book which is for sale in the Lipscomb room.

The Society meets the second Thursday evening of
each month (except summer months) at 7:00 P.M. at the First Methodist
Church, 404 W. Main St., Paragould, AR. There are no meeting
in the months of June, July and August.

Membership in the Society runs from Jan. 1 through
December 31. Individual membership is $20.00 per year and corporate
dues are $35.00. Members get four quarterly journals and 9 monthly
newsletters.
